Also known as sub-framing, nested frame, natural border
A compositional method using structural, natural, or shadow elements within the scene to create a secondary border around the main subject.
Frame-in-frame composition directs the viewer's gaze deep into the image by nesting the primary subject inside a secondary structural border. This technique adds layers of depth, provides context, and creates a voyeuristic or cinematic quality by guiding the eye through foreground layers.
Where to apply: Outstanding for architectural walk-throughs, cinematic character shots, travel photography, and editorial portraits where depth and context are paramount.
