Spiral Composition
Category
Subject
Spiral composition — an arrangement where subjects trace a tightening curve, pulling the viewer’s gaze into a central vortex or expanding outward like a shell.
The power of the spiral is its unrelenting pull — once the eye catches the curve, it follows. Use a spiral when you want to guide viewers through a narrative, not just a static frame.
Watch out: clutter kills the curl. Limit your subjects to a handful and place them with clear, even gaps so the spiral reads. Pair with decreasing scale for depth.
