
Wide shot — a framing that places the subject far enough back that the whole place around it stays in view, so the setting counts as much as the subject.
Don't confuse it with a wide-angle lens. A wide shot is about how far back the camera sits; a wide-angle lens is about how much the glass bends the scene, and you can shoot a tight close-up on one.
