The bleach bypass process skips chemical bleaching, leaving metallic silver in the film to create high-contrast, muted colors and harsh, deep shadows.
Gritty Realism
Use for high-tension realism. Bleach bypass excels in industrial, military, or urban neo-noir settings. Because it strips away warm skin tones and pastel hues, it instantly introduces a cold, unforgiving atmosphere.
Contrast management. The retained silver dramatically spikes contrast, blowing out highlights and crushing shadows. Pair it with hard, directional lighting, and avoid busy patterns which turn into noisy visual clutter under this harsh grade.
