Zorn palette — a restricted four-color painting scheme using only ivory black, yellow ochre, vermilion, and white, creating a warm, earthy range from deep shadow to bright highlight.
Why it works: The Zorn palette forces harmony by removing color choices. Every hue comes from just four paints, so warm and cool live in the same family — no jarring clashes. It's ideal for portraits because flesh tones stay natural even when pushed toward red or yellow.
The trap: Beginners add pure white or black too quickly. Let the ochre and vermilion do the work in midtones; save white for the brightest highlight and black for the deepest shadow only. The magic lives in the in-between mixes.
If it is a modern woman, the generated image will deviate from the intended direction.
