How to get the fizz right

Backlight is non-negotiable. Place your light source behind the glass — even a window — so each bubble becomes a tiny spark. Without it, effervescence reads as murky dots.

• Keep the glass plain. A fluted champagne glass works; cut crystal steals attention. The bubbles are the subject, not the stemware.
• Add gentle motion. In a still image, a slight tilt or a few escaping bubbles near the rim suggests active effervescence, not a poured prop.
• Pair with morning light. Cool natural light keeps the mood buoyant and clean; warm tungsten can make it feel heavy or celebratory in a different way.
