Waxed canvas is a heavy cotton fabric treated with wax, creating a matte, water-resistant surface with distinct pale crease lines where folded.
Prompt for surface patina: Pair the term with phrases like "pale stress creases" or "scratched patina" to force the engine to render the distinct wax-displacement lines that give the fabric character, avoiding a flat, uniform cloth look.
Use raking light: Light the subject from a low side angle, called raking light, to emphasize the matte sheen (soft, subtle shine) and dense weave without generating harsh specular reflections (bright mirror-like glares).
