Virgin cork bark is the rough, unpeeled outer skin of a cork tree, featuring deeply furrowed craggy ridges, warm woody tones, and a raw organic texture.
Rake the light: Use raking light (light striking from a sharp side angle) to throw dramatic micro-shadows inside the deep woody crevices, bringing out its rugged tactile depth.
Balance organic noise: Because the material has high organic noise (busy natural patterns), apply it to simple, uncluttered shapes so the intricate texture reads instantly without overwhelming the scene.
