Subject
High angle is a camera position above the subject looking down, so people and objects appear smaller against the ground and the frame feels open or distant.
Reach for it when you want a subject to feel smaller, watched, or part of a larger environment — the downward view flattens verticals and opens up the ground around them.
Watch the tilt. Too shallow (just above eye level) loses the effect; too steep (nearly straight down) becomes overhead instead. The sweet spot is an elevated diagonal, usually around 30–60 degrees.
Not to be confused with overhead. Overhead or top-down shoots straight down and reads like a map; a high angle stays diagonal, so the subject still has a visible face and a sense of depth.
