Clockwork biomechanics — a fusion of living anatomy and machine parts, where brass gears, springs, and pneumatic pistons replace muscles and joints.
Juxtaposing Textures
To make the mechanics pop, contrast hard metallics against organic tissues. Material contrast is critical: pair polished brass and copper gears with translucent chitin, damp muscle fibers, or matte leather scales.
Expose the pivot points: Place escapements and interlocking cogs specifically at natural hinges like elbows, mandibles, or wings to visually sell the physical functionality of the machine.
