Lipid luminescence is a deep, emollient glow that makes liquids and skin radiate light from within, creating a warm, dewy shine rather than a surface glare.
Creating the inner glow — Lipid luminescence works best when light originates from behind your subject. Use backlighting (a light source placed behind the subject) to illuminate translucent layers, making liquids look like they hold light inside.
Avoid harsh reflections — Keep light sources diffused. Direct spotlight creates bright hot-spots (white specular glare) that destroy the rich, dewy warmth defining this look.
