soft backlight
Subject
Soft backlight — gentle illumination coming from behind a subject, creating a glowing halo effect on edges while leaving the front in a soft, quiet shadow.
Embrace the shadow. Do not overexpose to compensate for the dark front side; the beauty of soft backlight lies in the quiet, low-contrast transition between the glowing rim and the deep, gentle shadows. Pair this with a slightly overexposed background to create a poetic, misty atmosphere where hard edges dissolve into pure light. Keep your colors muted to let the luminosity breathe.
