Light leak — an analog camera artifact where stray light seeps into the camera chamber, creating warm, soft streaks of orange, red, or yellow across the image.
Embrace warm asymmetry. A light leak should feel like a happy accident, typically bleeding from one edge—usually the left or right—rather than centering. In digital generations, pair this effect with soft, low-contrast shadows and desaturated blues to let the warm orange streak pop organically.
Control the haze. Avoid over-processing the subject. The leak should gently veil the carrier without completely obliterating details, preserving a quiet, melancholic mood reminiscent of vintage film stocks like Portra 400.
