Add life and emotional depth to corporate portraits with natural catchlights, reflecting light sources to make eyes look vibrant and engaged.
Bringing Eyes to Life
Catchlights are the tiny, brilliant reflections of light sources in a subject’s eyes. In commercial and editorial photography, they are crucial for preventing a dead or flat look, instantly conveying intelligence, warmth, and active engagement.
Actionable Tip: Position your main light source—like a large window or softbox—at a 45-degree angle from the subject’s face to create natural, lifelike reflections at the 10 or 2 o'clock positions in the eyes. Avoid harsh, pinpoint flashes which can create tiny, unnatural white dots.
