Mosaic is an art technique where images are built from tiny pieces of stone, glass, or tile, creating a surface rich with fragment edges and grout lines.
Crafting mosaic in AI
- Tiny pieces are key. If the fragments are too large, the image will read as collage, not mosaic. Aim for a dense grid of small squares.
- Grout lines must be visible. Without thin dark gaps between pieces, the tile effect disappears — think of it as the negative space that defines the mosaic.
- Limit your palette. Ancient mosaics often used stone and glass in natural earth tones. A restrained color range keeps the surface cohesive.
