A physical stop-motion medium constructed from tactile plasticine clay, featuring visible fingerprints, tool marks, and organic, hand-modeled forms.
🧠 Tactile Stop-Motion Plasticine
Claymation is a physical 3D animation medium made from malleable plasticine modeling clay. Its signature aesthetic is intensely tactile, defined by micro-imperfections like faint human fingerprints, soft butter-knife tool marks, and organic, rounded shapes. Unlike sterile digital 3D renders, claymation has physical weight, a satin-matte wax sheen, and is photographed using real-world macro-lenses with shallow depth of field.
Where to apply: Outstanding for whimsical character designs, playful product advertisements, creative typography, and nostalgic, tactile editorial illustrations.
