Blue hour is the brief period of twilight after sunset when the sky takes on a deep, cool blue hue, casting a quiet, shadowless glow over the entire landscape.
Embrace the stillness. During this fleeting window, the absence of direct sunlight eliminates harsh shadows, creating a soft, diffused illumination. To capture the signature depth, focus on the gentle transition of deep indigos and cool magentas in the sky reflecting off still surfaces like water or polished concrete.
Beware of artificial light pollution. While warm streetlights can create contrast, keeping the frame monochromatic and letting the quiet blues dominate preserves a more meditative, poetic atmosphere characteristic of fine-art film photography.
