Backlit fur halo

Shadow contrast is key: Position your subject in front of a shaded or dark background so the bright rim pops. If the backdrop is light, the halo blends in and loses impact.

Protect your highlights: Underexpose slightly (darken the shot) to keep the glowing edge sharp and amber-toned rather than blown out (washed out into pure white). Warm, low-angle light produces the most vivid effect.
